Mrs. Sherly Williams is the wife of Bishop George A. Williams, and the First Lady of Rehoboth Temple Church of God in Christ, and of the Keystone Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Pennsylvania. She was called to serve as an evangelist in 1982. Mother Williams currently serves as Chairlady of the District Missionaries. Before coming to Rehoboth, Mother Williams was a member of The Macedonia Church of God in Christ for 52 years under the leadership of Bishop H.D. Bordeaux, Prelate of the 2nd Jurisdiction of Connecticut. Mother Williams has served as Sunday School Superintendent for 40 years and District Missionary for 29 years. She has also served as Jurisdictional Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher, Christian Education Teacher, YPWW Teacher, and YWCC President. Mother Williams organized and conducted revivals throughout the state of Connecticut and beyond. She coordinated singles’ retreats for 17 years. Mother Williams demonstrated a yearning to help the oppressed in her community. This led her to establish a breakfast ministry that fed the homeless and those afflicted with addictions. Mother Williams was recognized in The New Haven Register for her outstanding work on behalf of the less fortunate. She also initiated and ran a clothing ministry to benefit the community. Mother Williams received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Greenville College in Greenville, North Carolina. After working for the New Haven Board of Education for 38 years, she was involved with the Virginia Wells Transitional House. This gave Mother Williams an opportunity to minister to women who were caught up in the criminal justice system and to motivate them to rebuild their lives. Mother Williams is a native of New Haven, Connecticut. She started serving the Lord at an early age. Mother Williams began her ministry at age seven and she has been glorifying God through song ever since. She is currently working on a CD. Mother Williams has one daughter, Kristin Nicole Burton, with her late husband.
